1963年初秋，冀津交界的冀家庄遭遇一场百年不遇的大洪水，即将成熟的秋庄稼在一米多深的大水中挣扎，堤下的村子也有被淹没的可能，人民群众的生命财产安全受到严重威协。大队书记丁震洪（鲁速 饰）带领党员干部日夜奋战在大堤上，此时县委决定，为保障津浦铁路和天津市几百万人民的安全，在冀家庄堤段炸堤分洪。闻听此言，一下炸了锅，大队长大勇（村里 饰）等人坚决反对，坏分子王茂（孙树林 饰）也推波助澜。老根爷（蔡松龄 饰）、丁胜河（刘世龙 饰）等人却坚定地站在丁震洪一边，拥护县委的决定，决心舍小家保大家。丁震洪带领全村社员终于战胜了洪水，夺得了当年农业丰收。秋后，毛主席发出了“一定要根治海河”的伟大指示......。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
